Tea Era in Mountain View

Big fan of the roasted barley milk tea. It's my favorite milk tea in South Bay. Don't care much for toppings in general, but the egg pudding is a nice addition to any drink and the pearls are awesome. Cash only!

Good selection of teas with and without milk. Pricing is lower than the most other shops. Gen Mai is my default.

They still live in cash-only world. They should start accepting some kind of electronic payments. The cold milk tea was really good. There are lot of tea options (both hot and cold) and there are also lot of add-on options (type of boba). They do ask for sugar level and ice level. Even with mild sugar level which I specified, the tea was pretty sweet actually. Next time I will probably order without added sugar altogether. Served in a sealed cup which makes it easy to carry and go. Prep time was just about 3 minutes making it worthy of a stop. Get the large size, you can sip it slowly and finish it!

We came through Friday night and ordered a hot, and cold bubble milk tea. The hot option is pre-mixed with sugar, so you can't opt out. When we got it, the tea was so sugary and sweet that we had to throw it out. For the cold option, I opted for no sugar and it was better. The boba / pearls are undecooked and very hard, we won't be back.

My daughter dropped her boba tea. We went back, and they made us a new one for free! The staff are very nice and the bubble tea is amazing!

Quintessential tea spot in downtown Mountain View. I was last here in 2014 and I remember it being amazing back then (especially the roasted barley milk tea), but when I visited earlier this month I was rather unimpressed. The tea flavor is not very strong and the drinks taste primarily of sugar. I went here twice and tried two different drinks but had the same impression both times. The boba had a good texture/level of sweetness though.Note that this store is also cash only.

Always love coming here. The red bean milk tea is great, there's a serious amount of actual beans in there.

I'm so happy Tea Era is so close to me! It's the best boba place I've been to in the Bay Area. The barley milk tea is the best. They definitely use good ingredients to make the milk tea. It doesn't feel like they use powder or anything too artificial. My husband loves the sea salt cream on top. If you are in the vicinity and want boba, stop looking elsewhere. This is it.

Voted best of Mountain View, multiple years in a row! Reasonable prices, toppings not included in the pricing, you can add even chia seeds now. Cash only, some drinks are only 50% sugar. Almost always a line out the door, quick service, but know it will cost extra for an extra cup! Bathroom available all the way in the back of the store

Caramel milk tea with 50% sugar is very good. Sugar level choices are regular and 50%. 70% would be a good additional choice.

On the outside, there is a poster with pictures advertising for "red bean and fresh milk" in Chinese, but the English version only says "red bean". When I spoke Mandarin to order, the staff told me English only. As if this is not confusing enough, I can't find an item named "red bean and fresh milk" on the formal menu displayed inside. I said "red bean", and got red bean milk tea, which tastes ok but that's not what I wanted and not the one on the poster.

This is my favourite bubble tea place in Mountain View! I particularly like the Black Sugar Oolong and the Roasted Barley. I think they have the best grass jelly in the Bay Area. They offer soy milk and allow you to specify sweetness and ice level. Also, they have a points award system.

Roasted Oolong milk tea and barley milk tea is the reason why I come here for. Taste original and full of robust tea flavor. Note: No fresh milk, almond milk, soy milk, or any kind of fancy milk. It is good old powder milk what makes these tea foamy. Mmmm... nom nom! 😋

Quick and inexpensive. The teas are good and there are plenty of options.

I ordered a wintermelon tea at 50% sweetness, it tasted 100% sweetness. Waaay too sweet. If that's their idea of 50% sweetness, 100% must be pure syrup.

10/10 highly recommend, my favourite place to get boba in the Mountain View area! They have an extensive selection of the best flavours at very reasonable prices. The staff offer quick service and friendly as well. Note that they do not take payments via card - so do carry cash with you, and there might not be place to sit inside.

One of the best places for bubble tea in the bay area. My favorite is Thai milk tea and their passionfruit honey tea

It was a long hot summer day in the city and it was a long time that I wanted to try this place. So I ordered a decaf iced coffee and I really enjoyed every single sip of it! Good job! Nice coffee, cute interior design, friendly and polite staff.

Giving 5 stars just for its black plum milk tea (half sugar). It’s my favorite in the whole Bay Area so far! Cash only is annoying and the space is limited.

First, this place is cash only. Second, an often busy but efficient boba tea spot that has an amazing array of options, toppings and more. The prices are definitely fair given the amount you get. We love the genmaicha variety, but so many are delicious. There's a bit of a wait sometimes if it's particularly busy, and there is a small seating area at the front of the shop. It has a restroom at the back, and connects to the adjacent restaurant. One warning, if there are very new staff or if you see the staff mix up an order, be careful-- the only negative experience I had here was when one staff member was flustered and mixed up a bunch of orders. Otherwise, the 8 or other times that I have been were excellent.

Really good bubble tea place! I got Oolong Milk Tea with Egg Pudding, 75% sweet. It was the perfect amount of sweet for me – you could actually taste the tea which was great, imo! Lots of options to choose from too :)

A variety of options! They only accept cash and are open till 12am! So easy to get bubble tea for your late night cravings! Tried Oolang bubble tea with full sugar and medium ice - loved it!

Iron Buddha tea and roasted barley tea (no milk) are great.

Oolong tea is my favorite. This place is great and my usual spot for boba. The taro chunks are great too. They only take cash and they are closed Tuesdays. Very friendly staff.

This is my go-to place for bubble tea in mountain view they have a wide range of options for flavors and toppings, and the price is very reasonable. Do note that they are cash only. they are very quick at making drinks so even when there is a long line it doesn't take a lot of time One request I have is to add an option for 0 sugar right now they only offer 50% and 100% sugar options.

Aiya. So cheap. Great value boba.

My definition of a boba is formed at this place, and rarely there is a shop that measures up-to my expectations anymore. However, asking for half sweet is still sweet enough. This place is cash only, with average rate of $3.75 per cup. ATMs are a bit hard to locate around :)

Decent prices but the milk tea didn't taste good to me. Strong tea flavor but not pleasant.

Thought it would be a good idea to come here while we had a 35 minute wait for our train. Drinks are okay. Service was poor and slow. People who ordered after us received their drinks before us and even after our drink was finally ready it sat while the cashier took several more orders even though the person who completed the drink could’ve easily given it to us but for whatever reason they left the responsibility of leaving the completed drinks on the counter to the cashier. We missed our train.
